It officially started! Virtual learning may not be as new to some as we are doing home school here in the Philippines and there are also some short courses that you can take online. However, MOST Filipinos are unaccustomed to this kind of set up as we are all used to going to a physical school to learn.
No more bags, no more packed lunches, no more writing board and no more LIVE teachers and classmates – all we need is a digital screen from either a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone.
The question is, which works best? We randomly asked 3 students from 3 different high schools in Metro Manila to share their online experiences using these gadgets for virtual learning. So let’s hear the PROS and CONS straight from them!
LAPTOP
STUDENT 1:
Pros: most effective gadget
Cons: some apps may not work on a laptop and not everyone has it.
STUDENT 2:
Pros: can easily make reports that includes tables and other statistics based reports.
Cons: heavier and there’s a chance that when it crashes, it may corrupt other saved files.
STUDENT 3:
Pros: multitasking is possible and is more efficient when it comes to making documents or projects
Cons: some models cannot keep up with the online class due to the incompatibility of the device with the app or website used.
TABLET
STUDENT 1:
Pros: more convenient than a phone.
Cons: convenient to carry but not every student has it.
STUDENT 2:
Pros: handy and you can do other stuff like editing videos.
Cons: you cannot save big files compared to a laptop.
STUDENT 3:
Pros: the screen is bigger than of a phone which can help students see more during discussions.
Cons: some models cannot download certain apps and multitasking may not be possible for certain models.
PHONE
STUDENT 1:
Pros: Affordable and almost everyone has it.
Cons: not all apps works because of the storage capacity.
STUDENT 2:
Pros: Handy, you can carry it everywhere.
Cons: It has a tendency to hang and smaller storage compare to laptop and tablet.
STUDENT 3:
Pros: almost everyone has one and is more easier to use.
Cons: multitasking such as having an online class while taking notes on the phone might not be possible for certain devices, since its screen is smaller than a laptop and a tablet, the students may not be able to see the discussion clearly, and some apps may not be available for certain devices.
