Our room is our safe haven. This is where we go home and relax after a long and tiring day. It is nice to see it clean and tidy.
But for those who have small rooms that can only accommodate your bed and closet, it feels daunting to accumulate more stuff thinking how you would fit them inside your tiny space.
Decluttering is the first step, followed by some smart hacks to organize your things and make that “little” space look spacious.
1. Box it up!
First step is to declutter! Run through your things, sort and start keeping those that you no longer use and need. Box it up and stock it inside your house storage or donate. Don’t store it inside your room! That won’t serve its purpose.
2. Folding Hack
There is a hack called Compact Roll – for Underwear, Briefs and Boxers. This is normally used when you pack for road trips and vacations but will definitely work if you have small spaces to keep your underwears. (Click link to the video)
You can also use small canisters for your socks, straps, and handkerchiefs to utilize that small drawer space.
3. Hang it!
You can purchase a Coat Hanger that can be used as bag and cap hanger too! This type will only occupy a small area in your room but can definitely hang those bags, jackets and caps in one place.
4. Stack it!
You can now purchase individual plastic shoe rack where you can store your shoes. You can buy according to the number of shoes you own. You can stack it upwards, on top of each other or depending on how much space you have to keep all of them.
This way of stacking will definitely require a small space. It can also be placed underneath your bed or empty closet spaces.
5. Store it!
There are bulky items that we need but not as often as our basic clothes, shoes and accessories like: bed sheets, rain coats, gowns, formal shoes. These can be stored inside a big utility boxes. You can store them separately and tag them so you wouldn’t have to unearth everything when you look for them.
You can also place these boxes underneath your bed or on top of your drawers to maximize space.
Make sure to follow these ways to make sure that you will always come home to your decluttered, organized and tiny little “happy” place.
